Sadis is Pleased to Announce its Representation of Advocate Brokerage Corp., Carthage Enterprises, Inc. and DB Koslowsky, Inc. in sale to Cross Insurance - New York, Inc.

A team of Sadis attorneys led by Partner Jonathan Bernstein represented the owners of Advocate Brokerage Corp., Carthage Enterprises, Inc. and DB Koslowsky, Inc. Ltd. (collectively, “Advocate”), a New-York-based insurance brokerage, in connection with their sale to Cross Insurance—New York, Inc., a Maine-based insurance brokerage (“Cross”).

Sadis’ deal team consisted of Mr. Bernstein, Paul Marino (Partner), Seth Lebowitz (Partner), Mitchell Taras (Partner), Samantha Romano (Associate), Jacob Shiffer, and Jaywon Choi.

“Advocate Brokerage Corp., a 50+ year-old family-owned mid-sized insurance agency, needed to find a solution for the administrative and market issues impacting the insurance industry and we found that in Cross Insurance Group.  The Sadis team, led by Jonathan, was able to deftly navigate Advocate through the transaction process protecting the interest of the principals, all while allowing us to start what we anticipate to be a very long and fruitful relationship together on the right foundation,” said Jeffrey Koslowsky, representative of Advocate.

“Our team did a fantastic job representing a long-standing business held by a knowledgeable and successful family. Jonathan and his team deftly handled a variety of sophisticated corporate, tax, and logistical issues, with great deference to the family and business. Dealing with a closely-held family business is often tricky, but Jonathan and his team did a great job understanding the issues and the client’s goals,” said Mr. Marino, chair of the firm’s Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions group and co-chair of the firm’s Financial Services group.

“Moreover,” continued Marino, “it was great to have a sophisticated dealmaker like Jeffrey Koslowsky running point for the client. Jeffrey is deal-savvy and understands how to close a transaction.”
